Contents: A comparative review of select epidemiological studies was conducted, for the period inclusive of 1963 to 1983, of the demographic and sociocultural factors that might or might not be implicated in the etiology of multiple sclerosis (MS). Eight sets of factors were identified and evaluated, as follows: sex and age; socioeconomic status; house pets; sanitation; population migration; urban-rural living; social-physical interaction; and ethnicity (comprising race, religion and nationality).
