A two-dimensional display system is described using a combination of an ultrasonic vibrating mirror and a LED array. The ultrasonic vibrating mirror is constructed by incorporating a cylindrical piezoelectric vibrator with an asymmetrical electrode configuration. The unidirectional elliptical displacement induced on the side surface of the ceramic vibrator is used for the vibrating mirror to realize laser beam scanning. A practical character display is successfully demonstrated in combination with a LED array arranged in the orthogonal direction. |
