The paper presents an analysis of oscillators described by the following type of differential equation [image omitted] in which μ and β are positive parameters and φ (y) is a function related to the non-linear amplifier function. Four explicit functions are considered, derived from a particular approximation to actual antisymmetric self-saturating amplifier functions. It is shown, using approximate methods, that the stationary oscillation amplitude can be calculated to a good approximation for the two limiting cases of harmonic and hard relaxation mode operation. For the sake of completeness and in order to prove the validity of the approximations used in the calculations, some data obtained by numerical integration of the differential equation and measured values on actual oscillators are given. |
