A computational algorithm for factoring a polynomial ø(s2)in s2 into the product Ψ(s) Ψ(— s) where Ψ(s)has only roots with non-positive real parts, is developed. The method is based on a matrix function—the sign of a matrix. Applications of this method to continuous filter synthesis are given. This algorithm should also be useful in control and filter optimization problems. This algorithm is particularly suitable for implementation on digital computers. Numerical examples are given. |
