Singular perturbation methods are used to establish the conditions under which complete state-feedback controllers can be designed so as to stabilize multivariable linear systems containing ' parasitic ' elements, and the resulting design procedure is illustrated by designing a stabilizing feedback controller for a third-order system. This design procedure is shown to be more generally applicable than the procedures of Porter (1974) and of Suzuki and Miura (1976). |
