The switching curve for time-optimal origin seeking trajectories in the case of the Duffing oscillator is shown to possess a discontinuity, In addition a separatrix is defined which, although it cannot be constructed in the usual way, is necessary to describe the complete control policy in the phase plane. A simple criterion is suggested to characterize the phenomenon. |
