In this paper the expression $(1 - \gamma + zf^{\prime \prime}(z)/f^{\ prime}(z))/(zf^{\prime}(z)/f(z))$ is investigated as a condition for starlikeness and starlikeness of order α. In that purpose two different methods are used: one based on the Jack lemma and another based on a result by Miller, Mocanu and Reade about an integral operator that preserves subordination. Results obtained by both methods together with some previous results by Silverman and Tuneski are compared in the cases of γ = 0 and γ = 1. |
