Bulk C60-based solid electrolyte is shown to consist of two distinct compound fractions, hydrophobic and hydrophilic. Analysis of the fractions by FT-IR and UV-Vis absorbance, and mass spectrometry, indicate they contain true fullerene derivatives such as alcohols, acids, and ethers. the separated components can be recombined in solution and spin coated into thin films, which display humidity sensitive conductivity. by varying the hydrophobic;hydrophilic content ratio, the humidity response behavior of these films can be adjusted.
