Fullerenol, C60 (OH)n (n is about 24), was investigated by using electrochemical techniques on Platinum electrode in aqueous solutions. Fullerenol was found to promote hydrogen adsorption during cathodic polarization, while its electrochemical inertness was observed within the potential window of water. This effect was involved by the formation of multi-layer adsorption of fullerenol on Pt surface.
