Contents: Strontium copper niobate, SCN is a ferroelectric material with curie temperature of 390°C- Lanthanum is partially incorporated in a strontium site to yield the compositions (Sr1-xLa2x/3)(Cu1/3Nb2/3)O3 with 0.0 < x,≤ 0.30. X-ray diffraction data revealed these samples to be monophasic and tetragonal. Increased concentration of lanthanum (x = 0.00 to 0.30) lowered the curie temperature to 245°C. La-modified SCN samples exhibited anamolous resistivity behaviour with resistivity maxima characteristic of semiconducting materials.
