The present study is an attempt to quantify and assess the effects of different dopants such as Fe, Fe/Mn and Eu on the growth, dielectric and pyroelectric properties of lithium niobate single crystals. Investigations reveal that Lithium niobate crystals, when doped with Fe ions, exhibits higher material figures of merit, for using in pyroelectric infrared sensing devices and vidicons applications with wider operating temperature range, as compared to other available pyroelectric crystals.
