SUMMARY Education and teacher education in Poland has undergone dramatic changes in the last 15 years. From the former communist (educational) regime, a more open educational system is being built. The earlier situation can be characterised by a strong social coherent approach, based on idealistic (communist) values. Within the new open system a national core curriculum has been developed, focusing on Christian and humanitarian values such as responsibility, respect for the cultural heritage, etc. In that respect the developments still fit in the social coherent-idealistic scenario, taking into account that the idealistic values have themselves changed dramatically. Recent changes, however, also put emphasis on the need for economic development, focusing on participation in the European market economy. This leads to a more pragmatic approach. RESUME L'education et l'instruction du corps enseignant en Pologne ont dramatiquement change durant les quinze dernieres annees. A partir de l'ancien regime communiste (educatif) on forme un systeme educatif plus libre. La situation precedente etait caracterisee par un visible aspect socio-coherant fonde sur les valeurs idealistes (communistes). De ce systeme on a cree des programmes de base, fondes sur les valeurs chretiennes et humanitaires comme la responsabilite, le respect pour l'heritage culturel etc. Dans cet ordre d'idees, les modifications apportees correspondent continuellement au scenario socio-coherant idealiste en tenant compte du fait que les valeurs ont dramatiquement change. Les dernieres modifications accentuent aussi le besoin du developpement economique, se concentrant sur la participation au marche europeen. Cela conduit vers un point de vue plus pragmatique. RESUMEN La educacion y la instruccion de los maestros en Polonia han cambiado radicalmente en los ultimos quince an ~os. Un sistema mas libre de educacion ha reponido al regimen anterior (comunista) que utilizaba un enfoque colectivista ('social coherent'), fundado sobre los valores comunistas e' idealistas. Dentro del sistema reformado, un programa nacional de estudios ha sido desarrollado, enfocandose en los valores cristianos y humanitarios (la responsabilidad, el respeto por la herencia cultural etc.). Se puede decir, sin embargo, que esas reformas todavia encajan en un esquema colectivista ('social coherent'), pero toman en cuenta que los valores y ideales de la sociedad han cambiado dramaticamente. Recientemente, se ha entatizado la necesidad de desarrollar la economia--especificamente, la participacion en la economia capitalista europea. Esto lleva a un enfoque mas pragmatico. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG In dem polnischen Erziehungswesen und der Lehrerausbildung hat sich in den vergangenen 15 Jahren ein tiefgreifender Wandel vollzogen. Aus dem ehemaligen kommunistischen (Erziehungs-)Regime entwickelte sich ein offeneres Erziehungssystem. Die fruheren Verhaltnisse waren gekennzeichnet durch eine starke Ausrichtung auf den sozialen Zusammenhalt, der auf idealistischen (kommunistischen) Werten beruhte. Im Rahmen des offeneren Systems wurde ein Kerncurriculum entwickelt, das christliche und humanitare Werte wie Verantwortlichkeit, Achtung vor dem Kulturerbe usw. in den Mittelpunkt stellt. In dieser Hinsicht passt die neuere Entwicklung weiterhin in das Szenario des sozialen Zusammenhalts und des Idealismus, obwohl sich die Art der idealistische Werte erheblich gewandelt hat. Neueste Veranderungen, der Anschluss an die Marktwirtschaft in Europa, zwingen jedoch auch dazu, die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung fortzutreiben, was zu einem grosseren Gewicht des pragmatischen Ansatzes fuhren wird.
