A new species of filamentous green alga, Protoderma daphnicola sp. nov., is described. It has been found growing on the outer surface of the carapace of Daphnia species. The differences compared with the type species of the genus, Protoderma viride Kutz., are shown and the existence of the independent epibiontic new species substantiated. |
