Appeared in: Ergonomics
Paging: Volume 8 (1965) nr. 4 pages 455-465
Year: 1965-10-01
Contents: An ergonomic study was made of a selection of 1 pint capacity household jugs. Physical characteristics of the jugs measured included rate of discharge, handle length and turning moment. Electromyographic responses were obtained from a small group of subjects using these jugs. Other subjects ranked the jugs in order of preference from a functional and aesthetic point of view. The relevant hand dimensions of these subjects (and others) were recorded. Interrelations between the physical, physiological, psychological and anthropometric measurements were established.
