Drafting is an important process taking place at several stages of yarn manufacturing. We present a stochastic model which describes the interactions of individual fibres and is inspired by the spin flip process used in statistical mechanics. Simulating on the basis of such a model amounts to seeking an approximate solution of a minimal cut problem which is the formulation of a deterministic approach in term of friction forces. |
