Seventy-six third-year male college students following teacher-training courses, and 49 (100%) third-year male specialist physical education students completed a battery of personality tests. Their social responses were measured, and their final teaching grades classified on a numerical scale. Attitude to teaching was also assessed. Body-types were objectively assessed using Parnell's (1958) phenotyping method. A number of significant differences between the two criterion groups were noted. The component patterns of the two groups were found to be significantly different. Moreover, the study revealed an extended description of the muscular-extraverted stereotype outlined in previous literature. Certain educational implications are suggested based on these findings. |
