Titel: Author's goals and participant experience in an enactive cinema installation
Auteur: Ahonius, Robert
Verschenen in: Digital creativity
Paginering: Jaargang 18 (2007) nr. 4 pagina's 234-238
Jaar: 2007-12
Inhoud: Obsession is a cinematic installation based on unconscious interaction. The viewer loses him/herself in the emotional world of fictional characters Emmi and Henrik. Obsession shows how a violent act against an individual also damages people close to this individual and his/her entire life. The case history of an obsessive girl opens up a discussion on sex and violence in film and in society in general. The current study explores participants' experiences in the interactive cinema installation Obsession in terms of comparing the author's goals to the experiences of eight visitors interviewed. The preparation of the study involved a 90-minute interview with the author. The variance between participants' experiences and actions was broad. The interaction method of the installation was often found ambiguous. Some of the participants did not experience interaction at all while others were confused about it. On the other hand, the installation was found interesting by some participants to the degree that they re-visited the installation and wanted to share the experience with friends.
