Riikka Pelo's interactive installation Marina's Garden is presented in this article as an example of a practice-based research case focusing on narrative, poetic and dramatic aspects of interactive scriptwriting. Marina's Garden is a multilayered narrative space following an associative poetic structure representing the inner landscape of an emigrant poet, Marina. The garden of memories also challenges the participant viewer to become a subject of dreaming, remembering and responsibility in an intimate relationship with the poet. Emmanuel Levinas's philosophy of dialogue, Sigmund Freud's early psychoanalytic metaphors of mind and Friedrich Holderlin's notions of the concept 'caesura' are presented in this short artist's point-of-view as the conceptual tools creating the conditions for the narrative experience. |
