During the past ten years, research into the workings of the brain has yielded much new information. Two areas of brain research that have implications for therapy are those of hemisphericity and clinical neurotransmitters. This article provides a simple introduction to braining functioning in these two areas, summarizes major findings of research in these areas as they impact on death educators and counselors, and describes two therapeutic approaches developed in the past decade which recognize these research findings. Implications for the Cartesian mind-body controversy and for future therapeutic directions are discussed. |
