The systems of the Leclanche, magnesium and R.M. (mercury) cells are described in detail, together with the lesser-known air depolarized and reserve type cells. Nuclear cells are still in the development stage and will be used for specialized applications only. Fuel cells are of great interest to the electrical engineer and a great deal of work has been done on this type of cell resulting in the recent production of a practical operating unit. |
