Inhoud: Commercially available foliar bioregulators were applied to pepper plants (Capsicum annuum L.) grown under greenhouse conditions in the southeast of Spain. The experimental design was 36 plots with each one containing 14 treated plants, one plot being for the control plants. All the treatments were applied with four replicates. Eight different bioregulators were applied according to the manufacture's recommendation. All the plants were treated with uniform macro-and micro-fertilizers. We determined the content of carbohydrates, glucose, fructose, sucrose, and starch in the fruit tissue, and the effect of the treatments on their contents during three phenological stages of fruit development: young stage, Maturation I, and Maturation II. Our results showed that the bioregulator, Biozyme (T4), induced significantly higher levels of nonstructural carbohydrates, glucose, sucrose, and fructose, while with respect to the starch results, no significant differences was observed with the treatments. On other hand, we found that biozyme (T4) induced a high concentration of all the determined carbohydrates at stage Maturation I, whereas Chlormequat chloride (T1) had a positive effect at the young stage of the fruit cycle.
