Inhoud: Pour common organic matter destruction methods were used on three extractant solutions (pyrophosphate, oxalate, and di-thionite) of soil Fe and Al prior to photocolorimetric determinations. The results were compared with those obtained directly from soil extracts by atomic absorption. For oxalate and dithionite extracts, none of the oxidation methods gave results significatively (p≤0.05) different than by atomic absorption, but the photocolorimetric values were slightly higher for Fe. Peroxidation appeared the most suitable destruction method in terms of rapidity and accuracy. For pyrophosphate extracts, no correlation was found 'between the two determination techniques, because of poor precision in photocolorimetric results. The HNO3+HC1O4 oxidation method gave the highest correlation to atomic absorption.
