This essay provides an exegesis of George Bush's Gulf War rhetoric in terms of the World War II and Vietnam Wars and the presidential rhetoric in which they were embedded. The essay argues that Bush's rhetoric embraced and supported the orientational metaphor of the World War II paradigm, while simultaneously rejecting the Vietnam paradigm, through his use of specific language choices. |
