Jaar: 1992-06
Inhoud: The major purpose of this study is to determine whether American television programs in Korea provide any clear conflict with traditional Korean values. A self-administered questionnaire was given to 1,169 Korean students in Seoul, Korea. The sample was 50.2 percent male and 49.8 percent female. Exposure to American television programs was measured with the question, “On an average day, how many hours do you spend watching AFKN-TV (American Forces Korean Television Network)?”; Within clear limitations of the sample and measures, the findings suggest that AFKN-TV viewing is not strongly associated with Korean students' conceptions of social reality. However, one thing is clear: AFKN-TV viewing correlates with most of them, even though statistically they are not strongly related.
