This paper reports the results of a study that examined the relationship between love schemas and the strategies used to initiate romantic relationships. We asked participants to recall the affinity-seeking strategies employed to initiate a romantic relationship and compared those strategies to their self-reported love schemas. The results indicate that two love schemas—secure and clingy—were positively related to the affinity-seeking measure. Three love schemas— casual, uninterested, and skittish—were negatively related to the affinity-seeking measure. |
