A cross beam laser correlation technique was used to measure velocities of large neutrally buoyant tracer particles in the flow field of an agitated vessel. Estimations for the accelerations of particles were then obtained from the measured velocities. Using these, fluid forces acting on the particles were found to be on the order of 2 to 5 dynes in the region studied. |
