Spectral density estimates revealed a significant annual cycle of complaints for both carpenter ants and subterranean termites by urban dwellers in New Jersey. These periodicities were highly correlated, as ascertained by cospectral analysis. Periodicities are driven by annual weather cycles, and reflect the timing of sexual activity of both pest complexes rather than their peak field activity. |
