Contents: Signature matching is an increasingly popular method for variation source identification in manufacturing processes. In this method, the variation source is identified through matching the variation patterns of specific process faults, also called fault signatures, with the variation patterns in the newly collected quality data. There are situations in which a fault has occurred several times and consequently several signatures exist for the same fault. A technique is proposed that is able to integrate these multiple signatures together to enhance the accuracy of variation source identification. A linearly combined fault signature is constructed to increase the detection power of the fault identification. A numerical study is also presented to validate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.
