Inventory and scheduling theory have, in general, been developed independently. This paper presents a model which integrates these two traditionally different aspects of production planning in a multi-stage environment by transforming a lot-sizing problem to an equivalent job-shop scheduling program. The proposed model may improve the effectiveness of existing decision making processes. |
